The Superior Court grants restraining orders to protect people from physical or sexual abuse, threats, stalking, and harassment. The purpose is to order the aggressor to end the impermissible conduct under penalty of arrest. The court order can include anything from personal conduct orders prohibiting specific types of conduct, to stay-away orders requiring the aggressor to maintain a minimum distance, to move-out orders requiring the aggressor to vacate the premises.
There are four different types of restraining orders:
- Civil Harassment Restraining Orders
- Domestic Violence Restraining Orders
- Workplace Violence Restraining Orders
Each type of order has specific requirements. Please feel free to click on the links above to learn more about them, or contact me for a consultation.
